Why do think this or will not work?
Mr. Peterson the CEO of the Blackstone group said he has heard a lot of people tell him why they think the American people started to spend while over what they made yearly after 9-11. Mr. Peterson said the American public is spending 7% more than we make and he see us in 10 to 15 years being a third world country if this continues.

Please let me give you my thoughts on this.

After 9-11 the President of the United States got on TV with a message to the American people telling them they can do two things to help us though this crisis.

    1. Keep an eye out for any spacious activities and let the authorizes know of any you see.

    2. We need the American people to go out and spend money because these terrorist hit us in our wallet and we need to keep the economy strong by going out and spending and in doing so you will be helping the American people.

Ok there is problem with the second request the President made at that time the average American already had 10,000 dollars in credit card dept and a second home loan.

If there is anything we do better than anyone in the world it’s spend money.

This is why I came up with an idea for a show. I knew we couldn’t spend any more money because basically the American people didn’t have it to spend.

Note: Ok I misjudged how long this would take because I didn’t realize interest rates were going to drop and that we would have mortgages going to anyone who could breath ( Supply & demand prices of homes went up so the American people could have larger second mortgages to spend us deeper into dept )

I have always heard there are a couple ways to get the economy stimulated one have the people spend money hey we tried that, the other is to get small business started. Here is a plan that is drawing some interest.

The reason for the show and just not having the government hand out money to start small business is for every 10 business that start today 7 will go under within 4 years. So this show would show people how to start a business and at the same time the American public would be building a company for the ground up.

    BUILDING THE GREAT AMERICAN COMPANY

Television is flooded with shows that can help you build a house, a gourmet meal or even a perfect relationship but How about building a business?

Much like building a house I propose to start from the ground up. We would recruit student from the best colleges and universities, finance, marketing, economics and engineering.

Their goal will be to present ideas to form the building blocks of the company from their respective expertise. Each idea “block” is then scrutinized for soundness as pertaining to the building of the company by a panel of proven experts.

The panel of experts, drawn from today’s top companies, will add insight into each idea “block” as to which idea is most prudent to successful construction of the business.
The ideas presented during each episode are voted upon the home viewing audience) and adopted into the business model

With each episode another part of the company is constructed! With each block being put into place an American company is built!

I want to start a vacation rental business and I need help!!?
I dont know where to start. I have a great idea to start a small vacation rental with the option of very limited personal use… I can buy a condo on South Beach in Miami on Ocean Ave. Estimated cost 300-400K. I think a 500K business loan would be enough. Or maybe a mortgage. I dont have any collateral. My only income is day trading, and on top of that I am basically broke since I could not find a job after college, and in some credit card debt from moving and not working for a few months. I have a college degree in Economics. I live in NYC so my personal rent expenses are high. 1500/mo just for rent.

The truth is that if if I charge the regular rate of hotels in South Beach, $400 a night.. I only need about 1000 nights to cover the cost of the condo alone. That would be 3 years if I booked every night so lets say 10 years WORST case scenario. Most mortgages can be 20-40 years leaving me plenty of breathing room to be profitable. I have the marketing tools available to rent this condo out plus South Beach is filled with INTERNATIONAL tourist money.. I NEED HELP on how i can get this done!

Am I missing a trick in life?
Hi, this is a long story so please bear with me.

I’m a 26 year old male who has everything to live for. I have a good degree from a top university, I speak 3 languages fluently and 2 at conversational level, I have 10 years experience working in sales, recruitment and business development. Also, I have a wonderful girlfriend and a very supportive family. I always look at the positives in life and tend to focus on the haves as opposed to the have nots.

However, this year has brought me nothing but bad luck. I moved back to London to pursue work in January as my contract wasn’t renewed at my last place of work due to downsizing staff. I went for interview after interview and eventually, I was offered a position working as a right hand man in a start up recruitment company. The boss was very demanding and set targets that were unattainable right from the start. Furthermore, he didn’t offer any training or support. Every time I didn’t attain one of his impossible targets, he summoned me into the office and threatened to fire me. After a few weeks, I decided my dignity was worth much more than the job and made the decision to resign immediately. I applied for job after job after leaving and had in excess of 300 interviews (many harsh interviews where the interviewer made me feel very small!) all of which were unsuccessful. A recruitment company also acted on my behalf and told me that no company would touch me because I had left on acrimonious terms. They wouldn’t even consider the fact that I had worked for other companies for years at a time and spoke 3 languages which is a rarity in the UK.

On top of that, I had signed a 6 month contract with a live-in landlord and paid 2 months rent in advance. After little success with work apart from a couple of days temp work, I made the decision to move back home to my parents and find work there. I told my live-in landlord that I would be leaving immediately. I had just paid a months rent and was owed the other months rent because I was leaving early. The landlord tried to charge me another half months rent and refused to refund the other months rent saying that I had “broken his contract”. When I said it was illegal and he owed me that money back, he became very nasty and told me to leave his house immediately. He also sent someone to pose as a locksmith to intimidate me further. I left and I didn’t look back.

Since moving back home, I have decided not to pursue the money from the live-in landlord as I do not want any further contact with him. He has since tried to charge me for other things that I haven’t incurred to justify him holding back my money.

Also, I have managed to land a job with another more established recruitment company. They are currently checking my references. Other companies would not take me on due to my previous experience at the start up so I told this company that I had worked there slightly longer than I had and even did a presentation stating what I did in my time there (this was part of the interview).
I’m worried that they will now contact the previous employer and withdraw the offer despite having glowing references from the other firms I’ve worked for.

Furthermore, I got into a little debt while living in London (credit cards and overdrafts) and have no means of paying that off if I don’t have a job. I don’t understand why this has happened. I know we are going through a recession but this is ridiculous. I’m wondering if there’s something I say or do that makes people think they can exploit me or something?

Has anybody had/is having the same experience as me? Please share your thoughts with me. Thank you. (Oh and as always, please do not leave any sarcastic comments, this is a serious discussion).

With your experience and qualifications you should be looking for work overseas. Britain has had it. There are thousands of opportunities out there for multilingual executives. I wouldn’t recommend anyone with your cv to remain in this country. It’s not you – it’s them. With so many over-qualified people out of work and desperate to find well paid, decent employment – employers think they can treat people however they like. Get out now whilst you’re still young and get yourself a fantastic lifestyle and earn great money. Then you can send all those r soles a postcard.

While you may want to start with a South Beach vacation rental, you may find it more reasonable to start with a property closer to where you live. This would give you the opportunity to build equity plus gain valuable experience before committing $400k or more to a project so far away. (That’s if you can get the financing). Remember in addition to the cost of the condo you will have a great number of ongoing expenses if you decide to offer a VR. You’ll have taxes, insurance, assessments, management fees, utilities, marketing and maintenance. I would recommend you spend more time making a detailed projection of both revenue and expenses.
