- Make sure you are on the electoral roll. It only takes a few minutes to register with your local council and it will help to improve your credit score over time.
- Always pay bills when they are due. This will begin to improve your credit history and score and will again give you an improved credit rating over time.
- Do not apply for too much credit. The number of times you apply for credit, either credit cards or loans can have a negative effect on your credit score. Every application for credit is logged into your credit file. Too many credit applications in a short period of time may not help your credit rating.
- The truth matters. When applying for credit never give false or misleading details. Always tell the truth. If there are inconsistencies with past credit applications or details that are held on credit checking systems differ from your application it will affect your credit score.
- Start to build a credit history over time and when you check your credit reference file you should find an improved credit score. Remember good credit will not occur over-night, but if you take the time to fix your credit blemishes, your score will improve over time.

I am starting a new business?
I have bad credit and have just purchased a small business, where can I turn to get some financial help to get this business off the ground ex. credit cards??
Will people invest in a new business if…..?
2 people need 2 to 3 million dollars to start up a new businesss. One is a graduate of college with a bachelors degree in business and marketing with out of this world credit and is 24 years old. The other is a 24 year old that didnt graduate college, but worked for a small corporation and worked his way up to a manager and opened a new store and made sales go through the roof for the company. The catch is that he has bad credit (not sure how bad), but with credit card chargeoffs and a car repo that are from about 4 years ago with everything currently current. Like I said I am not sure how bad his credit is but do investors look at personal credit or do they go by the business plan they have and go from there. Do they have a shot?? By the way it is a bowling alley in a very good area that should make good money.
Neither person is me
How can I make my father’s credit rating WORSE?
My father is retired and receives a very small pension and he’s become addicted to playing the stock market and is using credit cards to pay for it. He currently has a balance owing of about $100,000 on five or six cards. Because he’s got an excellent credit rating, he keeps getting new cards with low introductory rates (like 0.99% for 6 months) to pay off the balances on the old cards. He never misses a payment, he just moves the balances around to the cards with the lowest rates.
Because he keeps losing money in the stock market, he keeps using more and more credit to try to make it back. As long as the credit card companies keep issuing him new cards with low rates, it’ll get worse.
I love my father and know that eventually this is going to catch up with him. He’s completely irrational about this and thinks that someday he’ll make a killing that will offset what he owes, but he’s be doing this now for over 10 years and just keeps losing money.
Can I somehow get his credit reduced? Or should I just mind my own business?
i need ur opinion! my mom has my credit card and uses it when it is necessary im 19 and i think my $ is stolen?
and my mom says my dad will pay me back (yea right)
my mom has my credit card, and over the years, i have been saving ALL of my money ever since 2007 i think, and i joined a 3 1/2 ytepp courses for 6 months, and ytepp gives $60 per day i would of have alittle more than 10,000 , and i haven’t spent a dime on it, i only took money to buy a guitar, and i was forced on buying new clothes, thats it. i really wanted to buy a xbox but my mom said i would only be wasting my money so i didnt buy it
then when i went to check my money, my mom said she and my dad used it, but she never told me before until now, she used it, she said she spent it on some groceries, my dad took some for his business, and some payments for a car, and a dental appointment i had to do (i dont mind taking money from the bank for that) and a few other stuff, (i must admit were kind of poor) and she made me feel so GUILTY of her doing by confronting her as it was not her fault making me look like a bitter boy, after i took my bank card, my mom always has it, she insists im clumsy, i felt bad and started to realize maybe she was right or i maybe in denial so i gave her back the card,
am i wrong, what should i do?
the main reason i wanted the card for is to see how much money i had, to how much i had in the bank, so i could start investing/saving for a small house, so i can start living alone
ps. my family is kinda poor, my mom babysits and my dad is a small time carpenter who recently open his business, and my brother works but he recklessly spends his money, and i recently started working too, so now i have to start form scratch and work to buy my house

an investor will be more interested in the financial of the bowling alley and your business/marketing plan, but if your looking to get a loan for your business they will look at both, and if your personal credit is messed up you most likely will not get a loan or an investor? if you can’t keep your own financial life in order, you certainly can’t keep a business’s financial in order. this is how they will look at it, he need to hire someone to clean up his credit report before you look for an investor or a loan which ever it is.
The money in your account is YOURS and not theirs to simply take whenever they please and not even inform you of it. You work for it and it is what you will use to start your life. You should talk to your parents about this and tell them what you plan to do with your money. If things are getting tough or they need some help you should ask that they will always let you know so that YOU can control how much money to give if you wish to help them out. If you want your parents to pay you back in some way then maybe consider how they could go about it. Maybe if it’s too much to pay in cash they could do something to help you out? Also if you wanted to be sure you’ll recieve what they owe you, you could tell them that if they want to borrow any of your money they will need to prove that they can pay it back to you. Or write it on paper if it’s really what you want.
I honestly think you should be carrying your card with you, not your mother. And how did they manage BEFORE you had money? Think about that.
why do credit cards cancel on you if you have credit issues elsewhere?
So up until I was laid off in 2008 from a full-time job, I had near perfect credit. I always always always paid my biills on time and was seldomly ever late for any of them. I had a few credit cards. I have/had a MasterCard, a Kohls card, a Old Navy card, and another card from my bank that I never used or even activated since the account was only for overdraft protection.
Keep in mind I have/had a near perfect record with MasterCard since like 2002. I ALWAYS paid my balance off in FULL not just on that card but any card I used I always made a habit of paying them off in full.
So everyone knows that the only way to apply for jobs these days is via computer. Well my motherboard on my computer went bad so I had to buy a new laptop so I opened a Best Buy Credit card. During that time I also had a TEMPORARY contract job and thought I would be able to make the payments. Well about a week after I had charged the amount to the card, wouldn’t you know that my contract temp job ended early. Then to top it off I had also during that time charged a small amount to my Kohls card thinking I”d be able to pay it off — needed clothes for that job. Well keep in mind that was like last August. Well when the contract ended earlier than it was supposed to, I was stuck with two bills I could not pay. Unemployment benefits only pay out so much. So I had to prioritze my bills. I paid the things that had to be paid like my car payment, student loans, insurance, cell phone (I have the bare minimum no frills cell phone plan and it’s the only phone I have) and groceries — I applied for food stamps but was told I made too much on unemployment benefits. This pretty much left me with nothing left over to give to the credit card people. I paid them a few times when I had a little left over but those payments were far and few between. So I mean when you don’t have money to pay even the bare minimum on cards you just don’t have the money. And I tried to tell those companies that I was unemployed and asked for help and all they wanted to do was put me on some type of payment plan even though I tried to tell them I did NOT have any left over for that. So I mean they just didn’t get paid. So I mean I can understand those particular companies not liking me. But what I don’t understand is why other companies have to stick their nose in your business and close your other cards that you didn’t even have problems with. My bank closed my card with them that I have for overdraft protection and have never ever even used it for that or anything else. Will Mastercard close on me next? It’s like I have a perfect or near perfect history with them by themselves (both the bank and mastercard), but my credit got messed up by Best Buy and Kohls. Why should the bank and/or mastercard even care? My debt is NOT with them. I don’t understand. I mean yes I know I didn’t pay Best Buy and Kohls like I should have but you can’t squeeze blood from a turnip. I mean shouldn’t they look at my past history and see that the only reason my accounts went delinquent is due to falling on some hard times? I know the simple solution would be to get a job. And TRUST ME I am looking but I’m not getting any phone calls back for interviews. Any explanation as to why credit cards that I didn’t even use are closing on me based on a couple other cards would be appreciated. Thanks.
I don’t know why yours was closed, but I do know that some credit cards close automatically it they are unused.
Some advice. Add some comments to your credit history explaining this situation, it will help. Also call back the places you interview at, some companies see it as a sign of initiative.
Best of luck with the job hunt.
